5 Things to Consider When Choosing a Hormone Clinic

Suspect that you have a hormone imbalance and would like a diagnosis? Or, have you already been diagnosed with a hormone problem and you’re looking for somewhere to get the treatment you need?

The first step towards addressing your hormone issue is choosing a hormone clinic. However, this is easier said than done. With many different hormone clinics out there, and numerous types of hormone treatments available, it can be an overwhelming process selecting a clinic that is right for you.

We are the Marion Gluck Clinic, one of the UK’s leading hormone therapy clinics. Pioneers of Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT), for over two decades we have prescribed bespoke hormone treatment plans for thousands of men and women, helping them regain control of their lives.

With this in mind, we have drawn on our extensive experience and expertise to highlight 5 things you must consider when selecting a hormone clinic.

1. The Type and Quality of the Hormones Prescribed

There are many different types of hormone replacement therapies that are administered in different ways. While you will of course be advised by a doctor, it is imperative that you do your research to understand the different options available to you and the pros and cons of each.

For example, at the Marion Gluck Clinic, we only prescribe bioidentical hormones in the form of several different high-quality formulations like creams, lozanges, rapid dissolve tablets, and many more.

Bioidentical hormones are chemically identical to the hormones naturally produced by your body. They are derived from plants, namely yams, and we tailor them to match your individual hormonal needs. You can find out more about the difference between bioidentical hormones and synthetic hormones in our previous blog.

Also, the quality of the hormones you are prescribed can vary from clinic to clinic.

At our clinic, the hormones we administer are made to the strictest regulation and are always of the highest quality. All our formulations are made by the UK’s leading compounding pharmacy, which is registered and regulated by the General Pharmaceutical Council. Not all clinics can guarantee this level of quality.

2. Is the Treatment Personalised?

Today, a one-size-fits-all approach to healthcare is no longer sufficient, particularly when it comes to hormonal health. To successfully address a hormone imbalance, a personalised form of treatment is required.

An example of a common ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to hormonal health is the prescription of HRT. Many hormone clinics still prescribe HRT in standardised doses for all their patients. However, as hormones are complex, and each individual’s hormones are different, this doesn’t always bring the desired results.

Everyone’s hormone levels are unique, therefore, your treatment should be unique as well.

At the Marion Gluck Clinic, all our hormonal therapies are tailored to the individual. We use compounding pharmacies to formulate our hormones, which allows us to create customised dosages specifically for your needs. This ensures the most effective and individualised hormonal treatment possible.

Customised hormone treatments give you flexibility, as they allow for your dosages to be easily increased if you are not seeing effective results, or lowered if you are experiencing side effects, which is not possible with standard HRT.

So, when choosing your HRT treatment, make sure your prescription is personalised. This will ensure that your treatment always provides the best possible results.

3. Does the Clinic Take a Holistic Approach?

Hormonal health shouldn’t simply be about ‘topping up’ your hormone levels. For a hormone imbalance to be effectively treated, a holistic approach that takes into account other factors is essential.

Hormones control almost all the processes in the body. Therefore, to get to the root cause of a particular hormone imbalance, a consideration of a patient’s overall health and the various factors that could be contributing to it is required. Simply taking HRT isn’t enough.

When choosing a hormone clinic, make sure the clinic you select takes a holistic approach, where various aspects of your health, including diet, exercise, stress levels, and sleep patterns are all taken into account.

At the Marion Gluck Clinic, we don’t just prescribe hormone replacement therapies. Functional medicine is at the heart of everything we do. Our hormone specialists take the time to listen to you to comprehensively understand your specific symptoms, medical history, and the lifestyle factors that may be contributing to your hormone imbalance.

This allows us to create treatment plans that include lifestyle modifications and preventive measures alongside our leading BHRT treatments, ensuring a well-rounded and effective approach to your hormonal health.

4. Does the Clinic have Areas of Specialism?

Hormonal health encompasses a wide range of issues; from thyroid disorders and adrenal fatigue, to the menopause in women and andropause in men. That’s why it is important to choose a clinic whose expertise covers the specific area of hormone treatment you are looking for.

For instance, if you are experiencing symptoms of menopause like hot flashes, low libido or brain fog, you want to be able to speak to a hormone doctor that specialises in women’s health. Or, if you are a man experiencing symptoms associated with low testosterone, you will want a doctor who is well-versed in men’s hormone health.

What sets us apart at the Marion Gluck Clinic, is not just the bespoke hormone treatment we can prescribe, it’s our multispecialist team of hormone doctors.

While all our doctors are hormone experts and treat all hormone related problems, each one has a particular area of hormonal health that they specialise in. This means with our clinic you can find a doctor that is perfectly matched to you and the hormonal issue you are struggling with, no matter your symptoms.

5. How Long Has the Clinic Been Operating?

In recent years, there has been an increased awareness of the importance of hormonal health. Now a common topic in the mainstream media, there has been a rise in people looking to diagnose and treat their hormonal imbalances. As a result, this has led to hormone clinics popping up everywhere, particularly online.

While all legitimate hormone clinics must prescribe their treatments through a qualified doctor, you should still do your research to see how long a clinic has been in operation to ensure you receive the best treatment possible.

You want to make sure that the clinic in question boasts highly experienced doctors who are experts in their field. This means looking for clinics with a long-standing reputation and hormone doctors with a proven track record of patient success.

After all, when it comes to your health, you need to make sure you are in the very best hands.

At the Marion Gluck Clinic we have been treating patients for over 15 years, while many of our doctors have decades worth of experience. We also pioneered the use of BHRT to treat hormonal imbalances. Our heritage, experience and expertise puts us at the forefront of the field in the UK.
